Unit Overview
Students will learn and understand the
basic components for landforms and how they
shape the various regions of Arkansas.

Essential Learning
There are many constructive and destructive
forces on the earth and within Arkansas that
change the surface landscape over time.

Key Concepts
The effects of the earth’s internal forces cause
mountains, plateaus, trenches, and islands.

These internal forces cause local, regional and
state landforms like the Ozark Plateau, Crater of Diamonds,
Ouachita Mountains, and the New Madrid Fault.

There are careers, scientist and historical
breakthroughs that are related to the internal
forces that change the earth.
